Bb Blues Turnaround 8

Picking up where we left off last month, part of the challenge of playing jazz lies in trying to not repeat yourself, or at least trying to do it as little as possible. This month's turnaround, another variation of the IIIm7-VI7-IIm7-V7 progression, takes a chromatic approach that really produces the sequence IIIm7-bIII7-IIm7-bII1 (the result of using b5 substitutes for VI7 and V7). Notice how the upper voice descends, finally resolving to Bb at the beginning of the first bar of the next chorus.
