As with a "minor third" turn on the first four strings (the subject of Blues turnaround 3), you can also alternate voicings on the "inside" strings (two, three, and four). Here, the chords alternate between 9ths and 13s. (As with all the examples in this series, the rhythms have been confined to eighth-notes for the sake of simplicity.) There are many other possibilities, including those that use altered chords; try finding some that work for you. We'll explore more along the same line next month. See you then.
