Bb Blues Turnaround 2

Last month's example illustrated how the versatile "minor-third turn" works. Keep in mind that you can use it with lots of different dominant chords. Here it's shown starting with a Bb9 played on the middle four strings. On your own, pick a dominant chord and put it through its paces. Use your ear. If a particular chords doesn't sound right, try another one. Lots of turnarounds are featured in All Blues For Jazz Guitar--Comping Styles, Chords & Grooves. There's more, which we'll explore next month. See you then.
